(Friday, February 1, 2002) -- Tompkins Trustco Inc.'s net income rose 8.4 percent to $4.8 million in the fourth quarter. Tompkins Trustco, based in Ithaca, owns the Bank of Castile, the Mahopac National Bank and Tompkins Insurance Agencies Inc.

Net income for the year ended Dec. 31 was $19.6 million, a 12.1 percent increase from the prior year. Diluted earnings per share were $2.62 vs. $2.45.
